What's it all about?

The last section of the Munda Biddi Mountain Bike Trail was completed in April 2013. This makes it the longest mountainbike trial in the world, over 1000km in length running from Albany in South Western Australia to Perth. Thanks to the Munda Biddi Trial Foundation, the first full length Epic was organised to coincide with the official opening and this is the blog that followed it. 26 people set off on April 7 from Albany for the mammoth 3 week ride. Day 4 another hut in the wilderness

We woke to a thunderstorm and rain from 5am so most tenters quickly packed to stop things getting wet. Breakfast of bacon and eggs. Someone pitched her tent in the drainage ditch because the ground was too hard to put tent pegs in the camping area. Sounds logical until it rains. We found hitch with the hut, the guttering seems to be blocked and overflowing. This explains why the water tank is empty, and provided the opportunity for many to have a shower. Strange because the gutters are fitted wwith gutter guard.

After another good breakfast we were off to a very slow start in the rain, cold and wet but on some nice single track. we managed to get away ok and when moving we had good speed b ut we kept stopping so our average dropped down to a very slow speed.

Lots of undulating fire road with a few nasty hills to keep everyone on their toes. A few emus and roos about but not much else today. Probably the weather. The rain stopped and it was great riding weather. Wouldnt want to do this leg in the heat of summer, one would cook and the rain helped compact some of the more sandy roads. Pretty much fire trail all day. Arriving in camp at 3ish we attempted to try to pitch our wet tents. I put mine up to try to dry it out but set up camp in the hut. Great to have a dry hut. After a couple beers and a sponge bath the pain went away.
