What's it all about?

The last section of the Munda Biddi Mountain Bike Trail was completed in April 2013. This makes it the longest mountainbike trial in the world, over 1000km in length running from Albany in South Western Australia to Perth. Thanks to the Munda Biddi Trial Foundation, the first full length Epic was organised to coincide with the official opening and this is the blog that followed it. 26 people set off on April 7 from Albany for the mammoth 3 week ride. Day3 demark to somewhere north of denmark

After a good sleep Some are regreting the 13 k ride they did before yesterdays 63 k ride as it lead to a76 k ride though it was pretty much on the flat with little hill climbing. These are the days yet to come.

Left oceanbeach caravan park at 9:30 afer muesli porridge and spagetti muffins. We all disconnected the phones from charge and denmarks lights returned to normal. The first part of the track is still under construction and we passed a work crew frantically building a bridge over a channel. Give it a few months and the track will be even better.

So far we have seen a bob tail lizard, snakes, black cocatoos, kangaroos and spiders.

A day to test the legs with some wicked climbs. Dave gets King of the Mountain again on the climbs and was head of the ride with an additional radio to control the motly crew at the front. Sandy continues to amuse us firstly being cleaned up by Tony and then deciding to ride straight into a tree. No damage done except to pride. Both captured on film and hoping to upload this when I get the chance.

Morning tea at greens pool and then lunch high in the hills (see previous post).
We arrived at the camp and the 4wheels drive had not yet arrived so we decided to go back 5 km and find a winery called "picnic in the paddock" for coffee, whitfield wine, and chocolate. Great little winery that donated wine for after dinner. They also have several bernese husky type dogs absolutely beautifal (seephotos)
Gosh we are doing it tough out here in the bush, missing all the luxuries of home. Steak for dinner wine and little creatures beer. Just a shame there is noone to pitch my tent for me. Must admit the legs were a little weary this evening with my tacho showing we have clocked up 150 km so far since laeving Albany.

Weather has been perfect for riding today not cold or hot just great for cycling. Sat around enjoying the serenity of the bush sounds like the generator in the background so we can charge the 400 gps's on the trip. The huts are great and ron was the first to sign the visitors book.

Daves sat telling stories like only Dave can and cracking everyone up. Lots of bike talk and Tony gets the award for the best bike. A tallboy 29" carbon santa cruz with kashima and all the trimmings like xtr (for those that understand bike talk). He even brought a spare 29" Gaint anthem just in case! I think my bike was making a noise today so I might have to see if I can borrow it ;o)
Well its 9 pm and I'm in my tent writing as the the sweet sounds of lawnmowers of various frequencies grace the airwaves. Tomorrow is a longer 55 km ride. Which could mean anything judging by the distances travelling so far.
